Cat Island

The merchant ship Laconia set sail from England in 1762 with thirty-five passengers and crew plus nine cats, bound for the Virginia Colony. A month into their voyage a fearsome storm wrecks the ship, killing all the passengers and crew. Miraculously all the nine cats survive, clinging desperately to the wreckage Cat Island is the story of their survival. The nine cats find themselves washed up on a seemingly deserted island, a daunting prospect for the cats used to life on the crowded city streets of London. Once recovered from their ordeal at sea they set out to explore the island and soon find they are not alone. The island has been abandoned by its human inhabitants, leaving behind a colony of cats and dogs who keep out of each other's way and as far from the evil 'Mousadonians' as possible. The arrival of the shipwrecked cats changes the balance of island life and brings about an unlikely alliance.
