I Am This Land: Wetes pe m'e wes

The Nez Perce Tribe is pleased to announce the publication of a new series of books that explore the relationship between traditional Nez Perce culture and the environment. This first volume focuses on wildlife within a unique part of the traditional Nez Perce homelands: the 570 square miles within the Hanford Nuclear Reservation that have been off-limits to the public for more than four decades. Although much abused, these lands have paradoxically become an unofficial sanctuary for wildlife. Deactivation of the last Hanford reactor in 1987 and the opening of the Hanford Reach to recreation have refocused public attention on this important area. This new book provides visitors with a colorful and thorough (but inexpensive) introduction to the region's birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
