Jim Weaver is a young, bright, printing ink technician who feels constantly overshadowed by his brash, less qualified colleague who seems to get all the breaks that Jim hopes for.??Finally, after being dumped by his girlfriend of two dates Jim decides that he's had enough and joins the RAF.??This proves to be the making of him. After a hesitant beginning and a minor bout of dysentery Jim finds himself fitting in well enough to life on an RAF Base and he gets posted to at least 3 different ones!??He has a couple of run-ins with Base Commanders and difficult Sergeants and unfortunately spends some time in the cells, but eventually finds his feet.??His love life is not so lucky as he doesn't seem to be able to find the right girl. Intending first to train as a meteorologist he eventually opts to become a Radar Technician a position for which he feels uniquely qualified and ultimately enjoys.
