Seasons of Desire

Living can be like artistic pursuit. We may know what our goals are, what we want to say in our poems or stories or what we want to show in our pictures. We may even have an idea of how we will get there. But we rarely know exactly what will happen along the way, what we will encounter that we did not anticipate or expect, nor how it will turn out, nor what we will think of it in the end, or if the final results are what we, deep down, really want. Perhaps it turns out better than we hoped for. Perhaps it was the expected, after all. The important thing is to keep moving forward. Life is more than a journey; it is a quest of discovery whether we set out to do so or not. And looking back we stand enlightened in a way that we cannot be when we look ahead.
