Not only does this engaging guide cover everything about the subject—including what music is and how it’s made, along with introductions to instruments, composers, and recordings—it comes with a free downloadable app. Thanks to this AR feature, you can interact with the orchestra and listen to a piece by Benjamin Britten, performed by the Royal Northern College of Music Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sir Mark Elder. Each spread includes striking photographs and bite-sized chunks of information, plus “Did you know?” and “Suggested listening” sidebars throughout.
